Hello,

my name is Bertrand Lalanne, I was born in England (Australian Mother & French Father), raised in France and

educated in the US, at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.

I have played drums for many jazz, soul, blues, rock, fusion and latino bands over the years, from compact Trios

all the way to 20+ piece Big bands.

My interest in recording and sound engineering came about in 1995 when I formed my own band and was forced to

find new ways of capturing the essence of a Power Trio in a 3x3 meter Parisian cellar..

Now, one can say that being a drummer is not necessarily an advantage if you want to become a songwriter but

it is a GREAT advantage if you want to become a sound engineer...

Why?..because drums are the most complex instrument to tune, record and mix.  On top of that, the drum sound usually

ends up being responsible for 50 to 80 percent of the ambience of any mix (Widest stereo field, most extended frequency

and dynamic range).

I begun my professional career in sound in Sydney with Mastering (the final process applied to any mix) and slowly worked my

way back through mixing and finally ..recording. This is an unusual (backward) path to follow but again,it comes with two

fantastic advantages:

First, you can take care of the whole process from start to finish.. no need for outsourcing , and, most importantly,

you can start shaping the end product very early on in the project so as to keep Mastering duties to a minimum.

Panoramix Studio is my brain child and was completed in 2010 (the year my brain gave birth).  As you can see, the space has

somewhat expanded since the Parisian cellar days.. so has the sound.. and the comfort.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  I'm more than happy to discuss Audio and your special needs until... the cows come home.

Yours truly

Bertrand
